Warm Up Your Winter Baking With These 3 Ingredients

When the temperatures drop down low & just looking out of the window is enough to have you retreat back to the warmth of your couch, you need something to keep the cold out! Here are some of our favorite winter baking ingredients, guaranteed to bring you comfort.

  1. Fruit:

Fruit is one of the most versatile ingredients in the baking world. Discover what is in season in your region & try to incorporate them into your baking. Who could resist an apple pie, a mixed berry crumble or sophisticated poached pears? Served warm with a scoop of ice-cream or whipped cream…that hot-cold combination will win them all over.

     2. Cinnamon

This earthy aromatic spice is one of THE smells of the holidays. Everywhere you turn, there are sweet cinnamon-spiced lattes & cinnamon-scented candles. This is a spice that you can include in most winter bakes, not just pumpkin or apple pies! Get creative & use it in cinnamon rolls, snickerdoodle cookies, or even just sprinkle on toast with a little bit of sugar (mm our favorite!). Do some research on the health benefits of cinnamon & you’ll want to add dashes of it to your baking.

    3. Caramel

Oh, sweet, glorious caramel. The vibrant amber color, smooth velvety texture & touch of decadence it adds to anything you bake. Dulce de leche is easy enough to make, a caramel sauce can easily be created on the stove-top. Drizzle it over cinnamon rolls, a cake or add it to create a creamy buttercream. Add a pinch more salt for that irresistible salted caramel flavor. We find it difficult to resist eating it with a spoon!

We hope that whatever you bake & create this winter, it warms the hearts of those you love!
