At SoBakeable we make baking easy, with everything you need measured & weighed precisely for you, so there will be no mistakes there! However, we do require our bakers to add just 3 basic pantry ingredients to each of their boxes - milk, butter & eggs.
So, here’s where things can get tricky! Generally our baking guides require that these 3 additional ingredients be at room temperature for the very best outcome - we’ve written about this on our blog before. Forgot to take the butter out of the fridge to come up to room temperature? Read our post on how to soften butter in a snap! We also suggest having the best quality & freshest ingredients possible for the most delicious dessert & we also always ask our bakers to use unsalted butter - but why?!
Well, if you’re using your butter for something sweet like your SoBakeable baked desserts, the last thing you’d want is for them to turn out too salty! When we use unsalted butter, we’re able to control how much salt is being added to our desserts.
Generally there is a little over a 1/4 tsp of salt in each stick of salted butter, but this can vary from brand to brand. So, why take the risk of not knowing exactly how much salt is in your batter? We don’t! We add our own salt to our baking mixes instead so that we can be in control of the salting & be sure the overall flavor is perfect.
So, next time you’re picking up your groceries, pick up the unsalted butter along with your milk & eggs. Then you’ll be ready to bake with your SoBakeable box!
